Blue Lotus Drinks: Six Ritual Drinks to Make at Home

Blue Lotus Drinks: Six Ritual Drinks to Make at Home

Blue lotus has been enjoyed in cups for a very long time, and the simplest way to bring it into your day is still a pot of tea. But once you know the classic cup, there is a lot more to explore: a cup that changes colour, a sparkling evening drink with no alcohol, a warm moon mylk, a rich cacao. Here are six of our favourites, each one a small invitation to slow down.

1. The classic cup

The ritual everything else grows from.

  • 1 tablespoon of Euphoria Blend for every 200ml of water
  • Water at about 80°C, just off the boil
  • Steep 3 to 5 minutes

Warm your teapot first, pour slowly, and give the flowers a few minutes to open. Our step-by-step guide is here: How to make blue lotus tea.

2. Iced blue lotus with lemon

Euphoria Blend is blended with blue butterfly pea, which gives the tea its deep blue colour. Add something acidic and it shifts to violet in the glass.

  • Brew a double-strength cup (2 tablespoons to 200ml) and let it cool
  • Pour over a tall glass of ice
  • Squeeze in fresh lemon and watch the colour change

Lovely for a warm afternoon, and beautiful when friends are over.

3. Sparkling evening spritz

A few drops of our Euphoria Infused Essence turn sparkling water into an evening ritual.

  • A glass of ice and chilled sparkling water
  • A few drops of Infused Essence
  • A slice of cucumber or lime, and a sprig of mint

The essence is made in a triple-distilled wine extract, so it contains alcohol (about 60%). A few drops is all you need. For more ideas, see our blue lotus mocktail.

4. Blue lotus moon mylk

A warm, creamy cup for the end of the day.

  • Brew a strong cup of blue lotus and strain it
  • Warm your favourite milk with a little honey and a pinch of cinnamon
  • Pour the two together and sip slowly

The full recipe: Blue lotus moon mylk.

5. Blue lotus cacao

Rich, chocolatey and made for an unhurried evening. Stir a small pinch of our 200:1 Extract into a cup of ceremonial cacao. One 21g pouch makes about 42 serves, so a little goes a long way.

The recipe: The best blue lotus cacao.

6. A whole-flower pot for sharing

When you have company, brew whole flowers in a glass teapot so everyone can see them unfurl. Allow 1 to 2 flowers per cup, water at about 80°C, and a longer steep of 5 to 10 minutes. It makes the pot itself part of the ritual.

Before you begin

As with any botanical, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, please check with your doctor first, and read our notes on who should avoid blue lotus.
